Look(s) of the Day(s)

Howdy!  If you did not know, I have been writing "Look of the Day," posts for INsite Magazine's Blog.  If you did know, then now, you REALLY know.

Who doesn't love a good street-style?

Khambrea Johnkins was spotted while shopping in Forever 21. She looked very stylish, yet not over-done. When choosing her ensemble, her goal was to look cute but not forfeit comfort. Who said you can’t have the best of both worlds?!
A simple, black long-sleeve shirt paired with leggings offers a clean, sleek look, and every girl knows that this outfit would feel as good as a pair of pajamas! Throw on a pair of stylish black sandals and you are prepared to shop till you drop.
Add the vest for some personality, the glasses for trendiness, the bracelet & bag for some sparkle and what you’ve got is one alluring outfit!
Top:  Old Navy
Jean Vest:  Guess
Tights:  Forever 21
Sandals:  Traffic
Glasses:  Urban Outfitters (“This is what made my look!” Khambrea said.)
When Khambrea’s not shopping, she’s studying nursing at the University of Florida, but watch out. She is contemplating a transfer to pursue fashion, and we think she should go for it. Big thanks to her for the inspiration! You can look cute and still be comfortable.

Laura Dean, originally from Tucson, Az., has lived in Gainesville for the past two years and is currently working for Keith Watson Productions as a wedding design specialist. When she’s not at work, she loves spending time downtown seeing shows at the Hipp and hanging out with friends. Not only does Laura like visiting the Hipp, she also looks pretty hip! She was spotted at The Top in an outfit composed of varying elements that achieved perfection.
Laura stays true to a lot of classic looks and pieces but enjoys mixing things in that are a little out of the box, which gives her outfits that pop of intrigue. She is open-minded when it comes to shopping. “I think everyone has that one item in their wardrobe that they found somewhere they would usually never shop,” she says. She is also a fan of thrift stores and of Joe’s Jeans, “I seriously can’t live without them.”
Brown Leather boots with purple stitching:  Kenzie
Tights:  Express
Mini-Dress:  Target (under $20!)
Denim Jacket:  “Super ancient, I’ve had it since I was 16.”
Feather Necklace:  Francesca’s
Leather “Rose” Crossover Bag:  Gianni Bini
Laura looks adorable in her mix between classic and eye-catching in leather, denim and feathers.

Fancy Hands Giveaway!

Hello Everyone Remember when I made the promise that I would host a giveaway for every giveaway that I won?  If not, click to see that it's true

I recently won Olive Essence Face Cream from Spa De Soleil and Beauty Blogette!

See!

I love this face cream!  I have NOTHING negative to say about it, which is pretty fan-tastic! I'm a girl, so let's face it, complaining comes easy, but no complaints here! It wasn't too oily, it didn't leave my skin dry, it left my face perfectly moisturized, which I appreciated! I really have nothing else to say because if this was the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and this face cream was porridge, it would be "JUST RIGHT!"

I have been following Beauty Blogette for quite some time now and if you've never heard of this amazing blog, you should definitely check it out, like for sure!  There are lots of a-mazing giveaways and lots of beauty product reviews!  We as shopaholics, are guilty of buying products, trying them and being like, "uhhh."  Well, to save you from that feeling of "uhh" and the inevitable shoppers remorse, check out Beauty Bloggette.  She gives amazing reviews.

And now for the main event, the GIVEAWAY!

I love nail polish strips, love themI have a problem sitting still and just waiting, who wants to do that, it's tortureSo whenever I paint my nails, I always tend to touch something, mess up my nails and then get REALLY mad, and no one wants to deal with a really mad womanWith nail polish strip, there is no drying time, so these are simply perfect for me.  I love you all so much that I bought some for you and some for me!  You didn't think I would be left out, did you?  I'm a shopaholic!

This is what the "Blue Jeans" shade looks like.  This would be the perfect finishing touch to complete your look if you were going for the ultimate Canadian Tuxedo!

This is what the shade "Red-y for Trouble" looks like.

Disclaimer: Whatever trouble you get into after applying the polish strips is not my responsibility.

Now that you have two manicures raring to go, what do you need to polish off (get it?!) your look?

  A ring, duh!

I am not exactly sure what size this ring is (don't hate me).  It's bigger than a 7, that's for sure, because I wear a size 7 and it won't fit me.  The good news is that whoever wins this will hopefully have 10 fingers to try it on, and I hope that it will fit one of them.  However if it does not, you can complain about it and then give it to someone else and make their day a little brighter, don't be a Selfish Shellfish!

Oh, you wanna win, do you?

All ya gotta do to be entered in the giveaway is one of the following (and then let me know what you did by leaving a comment on this post, I'm not omniscient). However, the more things you do, the more chances you will have to win!

Miss Priss Hits Blogs & Not Just This One

Well, hello there!  I have not been posting as frequently as I would like, but for good reason.  I am a busy lady who wears many hats.  I know everyone says that and no one really cares, but I thought I would share (I can do that, this is my blog!  If you don't have a blog, you should start one, it's fun!).

One thing that I have been doing is write, write, writing!  The wonderful people over at INsite Magazine did a nice little feature on my "Budget Friendly Looks for the New Year."  Speaking of the new year, did you see this?

Have somewhere fancy to go, but need to keep most of your cash for the shenanigans you will perform upon arrival?

Check it out, party ready for only $11, nuts, I know!

They also mentioned my feature in "The December Issue."

Hey, that's me!

You can read the story, "Give Yourself the Gift of Thrift," here.

I have also been busy burning up the pavement all over the state by doing things like this shoot with the lovely Kristin Kozelsky.  She is an amazing photographer.  Sarah Bremseth is responsible for the lovely hair and makeup.  Both ladies are super sweet and were so fun to work with.

More photos can be found here.

Until then, my loves!

Resolve to Beat the Chill, in Fashion, & on a Dime

Hello, my friends!  Whether we like it or not, the New Year is upon us and this means lots of self-reflection, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you embrace it.  If 2011 wasn't your favorite, don't worry, 2012 brings a new day (well, 365 new days) and new possibilities.  Making goals for yourself is always a positive thing to do.  Whether you resolve to stop hoarding clothes, to cease placing small children in trash cans, or if you aim to be the next President of the United States, go for it, race fans!  If one door closes, walk around the building.  Have you ever seen a building with only one door?

If this year you aim to save money, and you feel the cool chill of the winter air, then I have a little ditty for you.  In my column, I wrote about coats, coats, coats on the cheap!  I wrote about how you can snazz 'em up, so that they will never let you down.  Keep warm and fabulous, my friends!  Warm!  And!  Fabulous!

If you are a nice person, or a book worm like me, I'm sure you clicked the link above and it changed your life.  If not, then maybe you should a) click it this time, come on people!  What else do you have to do, homework?  Barf! OR b) read it again, maybe you weren't applying yourself that time?! Hmm.

If you think I need to calm down, then okay, I get your point.  Please enjoy the nice photos below and make up whatever story you wish.  Maybe it will be about a prince and a princess, maybe it won't. Heck, I don't know what goes on in your head!

Da di da!!!!!

Di da, da di da!

Whataya know?  It's the brooch cluster, making it's way all the way back from here!

Ooh la la, tell me more, tell me more, faux fur!

And that's all folks, until then, I love ya, and I'm sure if we were having this conversation via real life, I would give ya a big, fat hug, because that's the kinda gal I am! Muah!

Designer Interview - Wimick!!!!!

A few months ago, my modeling agency contacted me about a casting for a Runway Show, naturally I was excited.  Saying that I love everything fashion-related is an understatement, but the chance to see someone's line, something they created from scratch, their art, for me, is like watching a baby being born.  It's a beautiful thing.

From the moment I met Whitney, and throughout every communication we've had, she has been the absolute sweetest, and you can see the reflection of her adorable personality in her line.  She and her garments are purely inspirational.

1)  What is your Brand name & where did it come from? "Wimick, and it’s my initials pronounced out. W.M.K."

The Designer amongst fabulous shoes!!!

2) What made you decide to design clothes? "Growing up I was raised by a single dad, when my dad had to work my grandma would watch my brother and me. With my grandmother being an artist in all sorts of fields I spent my summer days painting, doing all sorts of 'artsy crafty' things, but, the one thing that I enjoyed the most was sewing. Sewing and fashion is all I know, I don’t know anything else. Sewing and what it has to offer with the fashion world is “It” for me. It’s what I want to do for the rest of my life!"

This dress is a-mazing Well, all of her pieces are amazing!  The vibrant solids and patterns plus the flattering, fun silhouettes created a flirty, carefree theme of "girls just wanna have fun"!  Each model either carried balloons or blew bubbles, which only added to the wonderment of it all!

3) What is your inspiration?  "Color, flowers, people, and my family."

Here I am, having so much fun, I can barely contain myself!  The clothes and atmosphere just made me want to have a super girlie birthday party with tea-cups, fancy desserts, and bunnies.

The back of my dress = Bow Magic!!!!

4) Is there a particular message that you want your designs to convey?  "I love old fashioned things.  Growing up with my grandmother I was surrounded by vintage things and I grew to love the old vintage look, espescially the 1960/70s mod exaggerated prints with, of course, a modern-day twist. I love floral, I love color, I love mix matching and playing with different fabric and patterns, so I think my message I want my clothes to convey is probably simply girlyness, feeling beautiful, girly, and corky without the sexy look of the clothes. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love some sexy clothes but, I want my vision to be 'old' with a 'new' attitude."

Behind the Scenes:  This ensemble is simply divine:  the color-blocking, the floral print, the bow top!!!!  Oh my goodness, so cute!!!

5) What can we look forward to from you (i.e., events, collections, social media, etc)?  "Right now, currently, I’m working on an exclusive piece for this amazing, talented artist that’s in the band Lighthouse Music originating from St. Augustine, Florida, – Amy Douglas. I’m going to be doing a spread on her (photo shoot, blog, etc.) of course wearing Wimick. I’m really excited to be working on that right now."

The hair and makeup only encouraged the theme of cuteness, as did two models that are twins, double the fun!!

6) What are you goals (immediate or long term)?  "To keep sewing, promoting, sewing, sewing, sewing, doing more fashion shows, possibly starting to sell some of these clothes that I’m forever making, haha. I’ll be done with my business degree in Business Management by next fall after taking a year off to focus on “Wimick” I’ll be transferring to fashion school in New York to pursue fashion design in a year or so. My all-time goal is just to be married, have a family, be successful in running a boutique called Wimick. No fame, just successful and happy."

7) Other than your own line, who are some of your favorite designers and why?  "Growing up my favorite designer was actually Heatherette because of their bold, colorful, exaggerated, out there, take-risks clothes. I love them!"

Behind the Scenes:  More bows and color-blocking = woohoo!

8)  What are some of your favorite trends? "Definitely the 1960s/70s trend! Oh, and the color block, let’s not forget the color block! I LOVE THE COLOR BLOCK. Or anything with that extra pop of color. ☺"
Backstage:  The smiling double-bow!!!!!        9) How would you define fashion?  "Hmmmmm, that is tough. I don’t think anyone could define fashion except for pulling it from the dictionary, haha. Fashion is just a way of life!"

Whitney, being adorable as usual!!!
10) How would you describe your personal style?  "CORKY and GRANDMA for sure! Haha"
