Fancy Hands Giveaway!

Hello Everyone Remember when I made the promise that I would host a giveaway for every giveaway that I won?  If not, click to see that it's true

I recently won Olive Essence Face Cream from Spa De Soleil and Beauty Blogette!

See!

I love this face cream!  I have NOTHING negative to say about it, which is pretty fan-tastic! I'm a girl, so let's face it, complaining comes easy, but no complaints here! It wasn't too oily, it didn't leave my skin dry, it left my face perfectly moisturized, which I appreciated! I really have nothing else to say because if this was the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and this face cream was porridge, it would be "JUST RIGHT!"

I have been following Beauty Blogette for quite some time now and if you've never heard of this amazing blog, you should definitely check it out, like for sure!  There are lots of a-mazing giveaways and lots of beauty product reviews!  We as shopaholics, are guilty of buying products, trying them and being like, "uhhh."  Well, to save you from that feeling of "uhh" and the inevitable shoppers remorse, check out Beauty Bloggette.  She gives amazing reviews.

And now for the main event, the GIVEAWAY!

I love nail polish strips, love themI have a problem sitting still and just waiting, who wants to do that, it's tortureSo whenever I paint my nails, I always tend to touch something, mess up my nails and then get REALLY mad, and no one wants to deal with a really mad womanWith nail polish strip, there is no drying time, so these are simply perfect for me.  I love you all so much that I bought some for you and some for me!  You didn't think I would be left out, did you?  I'm a shopaholic!

This is what the "Blue Jeans" shade looks like.  This would be the perfect finishing touch to complete your look if you were going for the ultimate Canadian Tuxedo!

This is what the shade "Red-y for Trouble" looks like.

Disclaimer: Whatever trouble you get into after applying the polish strips is not my responsibility.

Now that you have two manicures raring to go, what do you need to polish off (get it?!) your look?

  A ring, duh!

I am not exactly sure what size this ring is (don't hate me).  It's bigger than a 7, that's for sure, because I wear a size 7 and it won't fit me.  The good news is that whoever wins this will hopefully have 10 fingers to try it on, and I hope that it will fit one of them.  However if it does not, you can complain about it and then give it to someone else and make their day a little brighter, don't be a Selfish Shellfish!

Oh, you wanna win, do you?

All ya gotta do to be entered in the giveaway is one of the following (and then let me know what you did by leaving a comment on this post, I'm not omniscient). However, the more things you do, the more chances you will have to win!

Resolve to Beat the Chill, in Fashion, & on a Dime

Hello, my friends!  Whether we like it or not, the New Year is upon us and this means lots of self-reflection, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you embrace it.  If 2011 wasn't your favorite, don't worry, 2012 brings a new day (well, 365 new days) and new possibilities.  Making goals for yourself is always a positive thing to do.  Whether you resolve to stop hoarding clothes, to cease placing small children in trash cans, or if you aim to be the next President of the United States, go for it, race fans!  If one door closes, walk around the building.  Have you ever seen a building with only one door?

If this year you aim to save money, and you feel the cool chill of the winter air, then I have a little ditty for you.  In my column, I wrote about coats, coats, coats on the cheap!  I wrote about how you can snazz 'em up, so that they will never let you down.  Keep warm and fabulous, my friends!  Warm!  And!  Fabulous!

If you are a nice person, or a book worm like me, I'm sure you clicked the link above and it changed your life.  If not, then maybe you should a) click it this time, come on people!  What else do you have to do, homework?  Barf! OR b) read it again, maybe you weren't applying yourself that time?! Hmm.

If you think I need to calm down, then okay, I get your point.  Please enjoy the nice photos below and make up whatever story you wish.  Maybe it will be about a prince and a princess, maybe it won't. Heck, I don't know what goes on in your head!

Da di da!!!!!

Di da, da di da!

Whataya know?  It's the brooch cluster, making it's way all the way back from here!

Ooh la la, tell me more, tell me more, faux fur!

And that's all folks, until then, I love ya, and I'm sure if we were having this conversation via real life, I would give ya a big, fat hug, because that's the kinda gal I am! Muah!

I Won $1,100 worth of Clothes = a Giveaway for you!

As shopaholics, we feed our addiction, and it gets expensive, but there's a loophole my friends, GIVEAWAYS!  Giveaways are a clever marketing tool that people use to gain exposure, but who cares why they do it?  It's free stuff, people!!  Check out all of the fabness I've won in less than a year!!  Yes, less than a year, I barely believe it myself.  Because I am so thankful, and because I love you so much, I have decided to host a giveaway for my readers every time I win something.  Talk about a win-win!!!

Recently, I won this lovely Shadow Cloak from Samantha Pleet and Refinery29.  It's retail value is $598.00 and is currently sold out.  All I had to do was "like" them on facebook and then tell them how I would style it.  I said I would add a cluster of brooches, some elbow-high leather gloves, matching knee-high boots, and some sassy tights, and bada-bing, bada-boom, it was that easy, I won!

Cluster o' Brooches:  When you can't wear a necklace, wear a brooch, or three, or however many you want, it's a free country!

Imagine my happiness when my package arrived!  Now, multiply that by 102!!  When I opened the box, not only was the cloak of my dreams inside, but a dress as well, the enchantment dress!!  I was so excited, I thought I was going to have to run laps around the building!!!  How amazingly adorable is this dress?!  Retail value: $455.00, but they just threw it in the box like it ain't no thang!

How sweet is that?

So, to be sweet back, I wanna give away this vintage collar necklace.  Being the shopaholic that I am, I bought this months ago but still haven't worn it.  I think it should go to a new home where it will be worn and can shine like the star it was meant to be.

Giveaway

To enter, you only need to complete one step, but the more steps you follow, the more times you will be entered.

1)  Follow with Google Friend Connect.

2)  Follow me on Twitter.  I always tweet about the giveaways I enter, so this will be a good cheat sheet for you.

3)  Tweet about the Giveaway!

4) Leave a comment telling me what you did, so you can be entered the appropriate amount of times.

The giveaway ends December 3rd, at midnight.

GOOD LUCK LOVELIES!!!

Birthdays are Great Excuses to Shop

So after seeing this mess you and I both know that I do not need anything.  My own mother had the nerve to say I shouldn't go shopping ......for six months!  Six months!!  Am I being punished!?!?!  The thought of not shopping makes me feel all nervous and anxious, like "But, what will I wear!?!?"  Maybe I should see a shrink...do they have shrinks in the Mall?

Speaking of the mall, did you know you can get free stuff on your birthday from Sephora?!  You know I like free stuff! Last week was my Birthday!!!  Yay to me, and what better excuse reason is there to shop?!

And this was my free gift from Sephora

Big thanks to Janelle for the cute card and gift-certificate.  More shopping to come, people!!!

A week before my birthday, my friend Laura's sweet Nanny told me about a local store that I had not been to since they switched locations.  I went and oh my goodness, I felt like I had died and gone to Vintage Heaven!!  Oh, it's a place, alright!  While I was shopping for necessities myself, I came across this beautiful necklace that I purchased as a gift for a dear, dear friend.  See, shopping can be fun even if it's for others!

While strolling through Vintage Heaven I came along this little beauty

Oh, but note the detailing!!!  Embroidery! Peacocks!! And they're in love!!!  If this doesn't scream my name, I don't know what does!!!

Can you feel the love, can you feel it!?

Oh, but wait!!!  There's more!!! This little beauty came with a matching coat-thingy!!!  Double-trouble!!!

Sassy wrist detail, good for making various hand-gestures in style.

Total Cost for 2 pieces:  Reduced to $18 because of a minor imperfection, which actually worked out because I ended up burning a hole in the dress part with an iron.....woops!

And of course, we need accessories!!!!

Girly Girl Rings:  Purchased from Rainbow for $3 each for a total of $6!!!  What a steal!!

Shoes:  Gifted from Boyfren Ooh la la $0

Banana Bag:  Thrifted from Absolutely Fabulous $10

Total Cost: $34 I win!!!!

And remember, makeup is an accessory too!!!

Every Birthday Girl needs pink lipstick!!!!

And yellow eye shadow!!!  They don't call me "Matchy McMatcherson" for nothing!

And here I am, being the peacock

Peacocks are very serious, in case you didn't know.

And as the boyfren and I walk off into the night, I thank everyone who made my birthday as special as it was, I am a very lucky girl who has a lot to be thankful for.

And I am thankful for you dear reader, have a virtual cupcake (0 cals!)!

Get out your Scissors Girls, it's a DIY!

Do you have a plain little black dress (or any dress) that bores you?  Ew, Yuck!! (that one's for Meghan!)
Are you sick of it?
Are you ready to send that baby to Goodwill?

If you answered "YES!" to any of the previous questions, then hold on my friends, help is on the way!!

All you need is your boring dress, a marker, some scissors, a round object, and a good attitude!!!

Once you have gathered your items, turn your dress in side out, fold it in half, like so, and put your round object on it, like so:

Note:  In case it hasn't hit you yet, there will be two holes in your dress, so don't freak out.

Double Note:  I was the guinea pig for this experiment, so you my dear sweetiepies, will want to move your round object up towards the top of your dress a lil bit more than I did.

And remember, if you are using cotton and like me didn't learn your lesson from this DIY, cotton is going to sag.  I know, it's a cruel, cruel world.  So, I would recommend you use a smaller round object than I used.

Round Object:  Talk about multipurpose!

Pick up your marker.  Take off the cap.  Draw around the half of the object that is on the dress.  Do not draw on the table, or whatever is under your dress (this is bad).

Remove the round object.  Pick up your handy-dandy scissors, cut on your markered line.  Wave your magic wand, and BAM!  There you have it!

Note:  If you are a fancy bird, you may hem around the edges of your cut-outs.  If you are like me, and are in a hurry with nothing to wear (ya right, have you seen this mess?), who cares, be lazy, say you're going for that deconstructed look!!!  People are like lemmings, they will believe you.  Plus, if someone gets close enough to inspect your creation, MACE THEM!!!  That is your personal space!!!

My Mannequin Friend liked it so much, she begged me to wear it.  I apologize for the ill-lighting but hey nobody's perfect, not even me!  Shocking, I know!

Doesn't she look stunning.

Dress:  I already bought it, wore it to death, hated it, was going to get rid of it, so I am counting this new creation as $0.  If you have a problem with that, you need to lighten up.

Belt:  Handed-down from my sister-in-law.  It was too big for me and my Mannequin but no sweat, just wear it like that and bam, it works. $0

Necklace:  Someone gave this to my old Boss who didn't want it and gave it to me.  I will take anything.  If you have anything you don't want, let me know!  $0

Watch Magic:  The watch was a gift from my dad, he's a real sweetiepoo $0.

Lacy Thing:  For more info consult this link $2.50

Here's another view for all the fans of the lace thing.

Any Mannequin's look is not complete without knees socks, for more info clicky-clicky

Knee Socks:  $0

Now, I know what you're thinking, this dress still looks boring, but wait

The front of your dress may say Meh, but the side says, YEH!!  I had to remove my Mannequin's arm for this shot, she cried.  I hope you all appreciate it, I did it for you!!!  After all, it's not my fault she only has two arm settings: on and off.

If you feel like your sides need a lil more than a belt to separate them from the world, oh I've got a solution for you!

Or you can wear a something else under it, whatever, I don't care.
Lace Leotard:  Forever 21 $12

Here's a closer view for those like me with bad vision.

Total Cost of Look 1 leotard-less $2.50
Total Cost of Look 2 leorard-more $14.50

And there we have it ladies, take your dresses from meh to YEH!!!!

If you think I talk too much and can only handle hearing from me in 140 characters or less, follow me on Twitter!  "Cheep Cheep!" Or should I say, "Cheap Cheap!"

Miss Priss vs. The Closet

This is how the incident/accident went down:  I hung up some clothes, normal right, well here's the kicker, not only was I hanging clothes on the actual clothes holder/bar thingy, I was hanging clothes on other hangers (my room = clothes upon clothes, upon clothes. Really, it looks like my closet threw up all over my entire apartment), I left the room for some time, and heard a loud sound.  I thought, "hmm, whatever could that be," (imagine shocked face) and then saw my poor, little dog, Benjamin, running to me like something was after him.  Something was after him!  It was the clothes!  The clothes were after him!  This is what my little, sweet baby looks like when the clothes are not after him

Awe, sooo cute, I know (proud Mama)!

Yes, the giant mess was caused from my extreme state of shopaholism.  Yes, it was all my fault.  Yes, I acted like this must be some freak accident and wondered why this happened to me.  Like any person coping with an addiction would did I do?  I ignored it!  Ha!  Ignored it!  I even did a little "ha, i am ignoring you" dance (it's a good one, you should try it, don't be uptight)!

However, about a week later came packing-time, and I could no longer ignore the giant pile of clothes on my floor.  So to see what I was actually working with and to complete my task of packing, I separated the big pile into smaller piles.  Ultimately my closet was fixed, thank you handy man!  And I hung up only the things that I had hanging on the actual doors of my main closet and the items I had piled on the doors of my non-broken winter wear/shoe closet.  I thought there were only a few things, but I guess I am pretty good at space utilization (putting that on my resume!),  because WABAM, this is what it looked like!!!

And all of this is still left downstairs, piles on piles.

You are personally invited to join me on this journey as I cope with the everyday antics of shopaholism.  What you can expect to see:

DIY - I shall, like a magician, turn my stuff, into other stuff (snazzy I know)

Shopping - For you (not me silly I'm reformed, remember), I gotta do something about this mess

Personal Style - Let me show you how I combine my stuff with my other stuff (you just might like it, that is, if you're cool!)

Inspiration - What really gets me

Shopping - DUH, I lied about the being reformed part (Rule #1 Never trust a shopaholic)

Until then my friends, and foes perhaps, I do not know who is reading this,

Happy Shopping!!!

I Shopped Until My Closet Dropped

This blog is my diary, the wardrobe chronicles of a fashion addict.  Have I shopped too much?  Did I break my closet?  Am I drowning in clothes?  The answers to these questions might be YES but do I need shopping rehab, I am going with "NO."
